Rosli Mansor – Artist, Musician, Teacher.
Since receiving his first guitar at the age of 10, Rosli’s interest in music grew and expanded under the influence of musical greats like The Beatles, The Carpenters and Bee Gees. As he honed his musical skills, he was drawn to guitar legends such as Jeff Beck, Larry Carlton, Bill Frisell, Robben Ford, and fretless guitar maestro, Erkan Oğur.
Rosli’s single-minded pursuit and mastery of music led him to teach the guitar at Yamaha Music School in Singapore in the early ’90s. After 24 years with Yamaha, he joined music retailer, Swee Lee Music, as a Senior Music Instructor under its music academy department. During his time there, he was involved in product demo videos and contributed to lesson articles for music publication website, Guitar.com, a company under BandLab Technologies.
A music composer and arranger, Rosli has a flair for bringing commissioned projects to life. His body of work has been used in short films, documentaries, theatre plays and advertisements. As a session musician and a live performer, he is no stranger to studio recording and has performed on national television and radio, and held his sold-out concert at the Esplanade.
Rosli’s inaugural rock guitar instrumental album, Dragged (released in 2007), put him on the national stage as the creator of the country’s first wave of pioneering rock instrumental albums. Shortly after in 2010, he released his sophomore album, Deeper Than Purple, to critical acclaim and rave reviews from national news publications.
He has also received endorsements from Yamaha Guitars, Laney Amplifications, Valley Arts (under Gibson), Providence Pedals and Marshall Amplification for his established body of work.
In passing on his musical knowledge, Rosli has a diverse range of customized programs for those eager to learn how to play and perform on the guitar. His program on Songwriting features his unique Tri-M pedagogy, aimed at effectively helping students create songs with intention (Motive), using Dynamics and Rhythm (Mood), and musical scale and harmonies (Modes).
Today, Rosli’s direction in music is taking a different turn as he joins Mynahchords.
Leading a team of talented writers, animators and artists, programmers and of course, musicians – he is exploring marrying music with art and illustrations in new mediums, as well as how music can heal.
