Rosli Mansor — About

Since receiving his first guitar at the age of 10, Rosli Mansor has nurtured a lifelong passion for music. As a guitarist and guitar educator, he has drawn inspiration from iconic acts like The Beatles, The Carpenters, and the Bee Gees, as well as guitar greats including Jeff Beck, Larry Carlton, Bill Frisell, Robben Ford, and fretless guitar virtuoso Erkan Oğur.

In the early ’90s, Rosli began teaching at Yamaha Music School in Singapore, where he spent 24 years guiding students in both performance and musicianship. He later joined Swee Lee Music as a senior music educator, mentoring students and developing instructional content for Guitar.com, a BandLab Technologies platform, providing resources for guitarists around the world.

Beyond teaching, Rosli is an accomplished composer and arranger. He has worked on commissioned projects for short films, documentaries, theater productions, and advertising, while also performing as a session musician on recordings, national television, and radio. His debut instrumental album, Dragged (2007), established him as a pioneer in Singapore’s rock instrumental scene, followed by Deeper Than Purple (2010), which received critical acclaim from major publications.

Rosli’s career has earned endorsements from Yamaha Guitars, Laney Amplifications, Valley Arts (under Gibson), Providence Pedals, and Marshall Amplification. He continues to create bespoke programs for guitar performance and songwriting, including his unique Tri-M method, guiding students to craft music with intent (Motive), emotion (Mood), and structure (Modes).

Today, Rosli leads Mynahchords, a team of writers, animators, and musicians, exploring the transformative power of music in storytelling and art.

Music flows through the cracks, filling spaces only the heart knows.
