“The thing that stands out about Rosli as a teacher is the energy and thoughtfulness that he brings to each lesson. His enthusiasm and love of the craft of making music always comes through. He is critical without being judgmental, which helped me push through feelings of embarrassment and inadequacy to try things like jamming with other students
Rosli is mindful of what students are interested in but takes a step further to push them into learning things that would help them towards a goal that they might not be able to articulate yet.
I am inspired by the breadth of Rosli’s creative pursuits. Many times I’m surprised to hear that he is working on something unexpected and I’m always looking forward to what he does next.”

Alvin Tang, 43

“I come from a background of playing guitar casually, with no formal music education, so meeting Rosli was an eye-opening experience. He was able to unveil the reasons why my favourite songs and solos sounded the way they did – explaining in simple terms, and giving insights on the inner workings on key signatures, blues forms, shapes and music theories.
Sessions with Rosli are always informative and as he guides with patience, with discussions on where I, as a learner, wanted to go next, whether it’s uncovering the inner workings of a guitar lick, or getting started on writing an original song, or sticking to the basics of practising in time, and recording for reflective learning.
The best guitar teacher is one who is still playing, and Rosli does lots of that. The most fun part of the sessions are when you get to jam with him, and you can see the joy he has for music, especially my favourite, the blues!”

“In 2017, I approached Mr Rosli with minimal knowledge about music theory. He’s very kind and patient for a slow learner like me throughout the lessons, taught me in various ways on the most proficient method to recognize music notes on my fretboard, scales and chord harmony.
He always encourages me to write my originals. And is always sharing useful techniques and methods that are productive for me in time to come.”

Daniel Tan, 29

“I was introduced to Rosli by a guitarist friend of mine. Rosli is a very patient and observant teacher. Before I met Rosli i was learning mostly from beginner’s classes and from the internet. Before Rosli mentored me, my guitar techniques were very flawed and my musical knowledge was very poor. He strengthened my guitar techniques and musical foundations, gradually improving my techniques and musical knowledge.
Learning from Rosli has been very fun and inspiring. He’s very encouraging and has widened my view of music. His interpretation of music has inspired me to create my own music, too. Every lesson is a journey of understanding music and self-exploration. Each lesson is very impactful, after every lesson I always think to myself “I have so much to learn”.
Rosli also gives out weekly exercises to strengthen the weaknesses in my techniques. He understands my weaknesses and focuses on improving them. After my lessons I always want to learn more and would ask him more about my doubts, and he always explains my doubts patiently and I’m never afraid to ask him questions.
I would recommend Rosli as a guitar mentor as he pinpoints your weaknesses and strengthens them. He is also very insightful and has imparted me a lot of theoretical knowledge. Lastly he has been very inspiring to me in my musical journey and has helped me find the deeper meaning of music.”

“I learned to play the electric guitar at an early age but soon hit the rut. It was until I met Mr Rosli that I appreciate the finer art of playing the guitar. Rosli taught me to play in a Melodic way and often reminded me not to rely heavily on guitar scales when improvising but rather to express the music from within. Mr Rosli, thanks for being my teacher and mentor.”

“Before I met Rosli, I was moving from teacher to teacher, trying to find one that would not just try to teach me from the textbook or turn our lessons into his solo concert, and most importantly, one that I could connect musically with. When my cousin introduced Rosli to me, I went to check out some of his works and live shows, and I was sold. I never looked back and I no longer need to look anymore.
Lessons with Rosli was refreshing and almost therapeutic. Besides “textbook materials”, guitar sessions with Rosli made me felt like my own version of “Tuesday with Morrie”. He was non-judgmental, disciplined but also amicable and very witty. He is a very nurturing teacher and mentor and has helped me move at my own pace in my guitar learning journey.
I would not hesitate to recommend him to any person who is interested to uncover their own guitar journey, the flexibility of the classes works very well for me even during the period where I had very hectic work schedules. Thank you again and so much Mr Rosli.”

“Rosli Mansor is someone who would inspire you in music and in Life. Scales and technical drills when learning music can be a chore, but not with Rosli. He always keeps music learning fresh and enjoyable. Sometimes he would throw in subtle life-class lessons that i can always apply in my life such as time-management, priorities, relationships and aspirations.
I enjoy being in the limelight, performing for fans and friends. My solid foundation allowed me to perform in talent shows in school and gigs in university. Jamming with friends (I like rock & pop) helped me let out steam after a long day of study or work too!
Rosli is a great teacher. He is patient, cheerful and knows his stuff! He plays guitar extremely well and teaches from experience. As a new student, i was able to pick up foundations fairly quickly. However, the road to becoming a good guitarist is long and I would occasionally get distracted and lose interest. This is where inspiration is KEY and keeps you going!”

“Rosli’s approach is not only very much catered to your learning objectives, but also actively encourages one to work on their own musical sound. He is able to guide you with clear explanation with demonstrations and provides valuable and reliable feedback.”

“Every lesson with Rosli was extremely fruitful! He always encourages me to think outside of the box when playing and often tells me to improvise over a certain chord progressions. That helps me a lot as I play for my church weekly.
Whenever I came to him wanting to learn a new song, instead of just teaching me the chords and tabs, he’d show me the backbone of the song and what motives were used. That way, I was able to appreciate the construction of the song better. I always look forward to have lessons with Rosli and I’m sure anyone attending his lessons will not regret it.”

“Mr Rosli is an excellent teacher and mentor! He has taught me so much about the guitar and music in ways we will remember it forever! His tips and pointers are very useful and allows me to improve constantly.
He teaches very effectively and makes learning the guitar a joy! Also, working with him on the ‘Sorry I’m Late’ animation video has also been such a great pleasure and honor! I’ve gained so much creative skills and learnt so much about storytelling through music and visuals.”

“I first met Rosli at a promotional event for his album, Deeper Than Purple. His performance left an indelible mark; I had not heard anything so heartfelt in a long time. I approached him for lessons afterwards as I wanted to learn from someone who had such a profound connection with his music.
Rosli’s holistic approach emphasises the importance of syncing one’s ideas, intent, and musical knowledge to create music. With his vast experience as a sessionist and solo performer, I am able to tap his insight on different genres of music and their nuances as well as a professional’s perspective on topics such as instruments and gear.
Regardless of whether the subject is music, business or life, Rosli is always keen to help and share with those who are keen to listen and learn. There’s a good reason why open slots on his schedule are often taken up very quickly, so don’t hesitate if one comes up.”

“A worthy teacher aka ‘sensei’.
The day I met sensei was when I joined Yamaha to learn guitar. From first impression, he was a really funny guy yet enthusiastic and patient. His passion for music is phenomenal, being at Yamaha from the 1980s all the way up to the 2010s. From what I experienced, lessons were never boring. Besides the course book from yamaha, he would also give contents from other books that he felt was good and brought them to class.
Technically, sensei is one of the most knowledgeable guitarist in Singapore. Be it Pop, Rock, Jazz or Blues or Metal, you name it. He is always willing to share his knowledge. What I love most is when he shares his improvised riffs during our jamming sessions during lessons.
Lastly, sensei is not only a worthy teacher but also a worthy friend. Sometimes, we chat about life and all, and his ears are always open to listen to what I have to say. Be it the situation, he will always advice, encourage and motivate me be it music or personal matters.
Being in the music industry in Singapore isn’t an easy thing to do. But seeing how he has spent his entire life in this industry proves his love, passion and dedication towards music. Regardless of the struggles, he has always hanged in there.
Keep on going sensei! I’ll see you in our next session!”

“Mr. Rosli has help build and broaden my perspective, knowledge, and techniques in guitar playing. Easy-going and patient, Mr. Rosli has always been available to answer questions and doubts to ensure that I grasp the concept needed to make me feel confident while playing.
He has always been able to connect with people around him through music. He constantly encourages his students to break routine and play spontaneously. If you’re new to the instrument or are seeking for further improvements in your playing; no doubt Mr Rosli will be a great mentor.”

“I started learning the guitar at age 14 but only decided to take it seriously at 17. I decided that I wanted to attend Lasalle College of The Arts Singapore, to pursue a career in music. That is when I met Rosli and everything changed.
When I first started, I had no former training and had no direction. But Rosli took me in as his student and agreed to guide me on my journey. He helped me build good foundation for which would in the future prepare me, for my aspirations and goals. By engaging him as a private tutor during my studies, I had no issues coping with my course curriculum and made tremendous progress. Not only did he develop me as a guitar player, he also helped me understand the complex philosophies that come hand in hand with regards to pursuing music as a career. This contributed greatly to who am I today in terms of my artistry and uniqueness. I am very grateful to have had the wonderful opportunity to have lessons with Rosli.”

“I’ve always found it daunting when it comes to understanding the fretboard. However, after taking lessons with Rosli, he showed me his efficient methods to visualize the fretboard, and everything starts to make sense and it is so much easier now. Before this I have totally no background in music. He gave me a crash course on musical theory for me to pick up to speed quickly! Rosli made music so much fun by imparting to me the dynamics of guitar playing. My playing in my church care group has so much more life now! Thank you Rosli, for sharing the insights of guitars and music!”

“An experienced music mentor who is passionate about coaching aspiring musicians, that is Rosli. He has been patient in his music coaching throughout my learning journey. He opened up my world of music to instrumental guitar playing and blues, as well as taught me that music is not just about rock and metal, but is an art in itself.”
